I’m surprised that you’re surprised. A recent bill essentially legalized torture and dispensed with habeus corpus and it isn’t even an election issue.

Then there was this invitation to continue war profiteering:

Point being, all sorts of slimy stuff is happening, hiding in plain sight. Fanatic energy expended on pointless fluff (Kerry’s bad joke, yet another hypocritical evangelical preacher)… and yet everyone acts like there will automatically be a happy ending.

This is so typical that the media misses this kind of stuff. Instead of discussing thing like this that really matter everyone is talking about what an idiot Kerry is for telling a bad joke. There is either something seriously wrong with the media or maybe the media is just playing to what they know the audience wants to hear.

Ok first off let me say I am just a litte obsessed will Bill Maher (how I despaired when I realized I would not have HBO at college but thank God for podcasts!) and he really hits the nail on the head on this issue. In his book “When You Ride Alone You Ride With Bin Laden” he discusses many of these points and I could not agree with him (and you) more. We have become a complacent society and if I hear one more person say this is the greatest country on earth when they have never even been outside this country, I might shoot them. I guess I’ll have to wait for the rest of you post (sometimes ranting happens when people are idiots haha) to comment more.
